The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) has appointed Caroline Hirons to its board of directors.

The Skin Rocks founder is a long standing member of the organisation, working with BABTAC on initiatives including its T.I.M.E. campaign to help consumers identify safe beauty services.

As a board member, Hirons will use her platform and industry expertise to raise awareness of BABTAC’s work, which focuses on improving issues affecting the beauty sector such as greater regulation, recognised qualifications and safety standards.

“As a long-term BABTAC member, Caroline’s ethics are directly in line with our organisation’s, so having her join our board makes complete sense,” said Lesley Blair, CEO of BABTAC.

“Caroline is an iconic industry expert with the respect of her industry peers and the allegiance of her vast consumer following.

“She also isn’t afraid to say exactly what she thinks, and we love that about her.”

Hirons added that she was “delighted” to be joining the board.

“Like this organisation I am a fierce advocate of fit for purpose training and professional practice to ensure we elevate the reputation of our industry, support our members and safeguard consumers,” she said.

“BABTAC’s integrity and credibility have always set them apart and our shared values and objectives made the decision to join their board easy.

“I look forward to offering a fresh perspective and consolidating our efforts.”

Hirons has been a strong presence in supporting the industry, founding Beauty Backed Trust in 2020 to aid independent beauty businesses.

She also joined the British Beauty Council as ambassador last year, alongside Bobbi Brown and Sam McKnight, to champion British beauty to a global audience.
