In today’s market place, manufacturers are not only challenged with meeting the ever-changing demands of the consumer, but also with using the most natural and organic raw materials whilst reducing the use of artificial preservatives. Synergy Health operates in a highly regulated industry and understands the need to adhere to strict GMP guidelines for manufacturing and production of cosmetics & toiletries. All Synergy Health facilities operate to meet such GMP requirements. Gamma and Electron Beam are technologies routinely used to process products with the intention of reducing or inactivating microbial contamination. Both these processes are used at higher doses for the sterilisation of medical devices such as hip implants. The process exposes products to gamma photons or electrons (the dose is reported in KiloGray (kGy), the unit of measure for absorbed dose). By doing this the micro-organisms are inactivated, with the processing parameters being agreed in advance. Synergy Health carefully records the level of irradiation each batch of products receives by the use of carefully placed dosimeters - small devices used to measure dose delivered during processing. As sterility is not usually required by the consumer, lower levels of dose are applied to inactivate the micro-organisms.
