Duties & Responsibilities
Essential:
- Analyses organic and inorganic raw materials to determine chemical and physical properties to establish viability of use.
- Conducts basic research in product category to familiarise oneself with the latest technology and delivery systems.
- Formulate from concept to production. Performs pilot batch making, testing, oversight of scale up, stability testing and microbial challenge testing.
- Conducts research into composition, structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of raw materials and formulas to develop and improve products.
- Experience with quality assurance, product specifications, procedure writing, scale up of new products, and signing off on batches.
Additional:
- BS in Chemistry.
- 3-5 years experience in formulation of cosmetics and/or personal care industry.
- Experience with lotion, cream, gel, emulsion; colour & SPF formulation.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines including FDA & GMP.
- Tolerance of working with perfumes and fragrances.
- Experience with Excel, Word & MRP.
- Detail oriented, excellent communication skills, and ability to manage and prioritise projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
