Luxury Portuguese beauty brand Claus Porto has opened its first-ever store outside Portugal in New York City’s Nolita neighbourhood.
Nolita, short for North of Little Italy, is said to be an upmarket district featuring a range of chic shopping centres, jewellery shops and boutiques.
The design, achieved by tacklebox architecture, is said to pay homage to Portuguese architecture and the brand’s proud heritage.
Claus Porto was founded 131 years ago and today is present in 60 countries across Europe, Asia and the US.

The 550sqft store features a 42ft long free standing archway, filled with Portuguese cork and a carved surface of 1,500 faceted diamond tiles, to reference the façade of the Casa dos Bicos building in Lisbon (pictured), as well as São Bento train station in its founding city Porto, Portugal.
The brand’s flagship store can be found in the city of Porto, meanwhile a second outpost is set up in Lisbon on Rua da Misericórdia.
Claus Porto started in the industry by making handcrafted soaps infused with fragrant ingredients from Portugal’s countryside and its main factory is still located in Porto.
