Spain's hands and nails category continued to grow in 2016, with sales rising 6.1% to €89.3m in the 12 months to the end of August


At the end of October, Mariano Rajoy took the Prime Ministerial oath before Spanish King Felipe VI, bringing to an end an unprecedented 314 days without a government and narrowly avoiding a third election in 12 months.

Given the heavily divided parliament, the upcoming session is unlikely to be dull as Rajoy will have to seek consensus for every piece of legislation he wants to pass, beginning with the budget for 2017.

Of course, there are those who might be wondering what all the fuss has been about as the economy seems to have performed fairly well, not least in the cosmetics sector.

Figures from trade association Stanpa (Associación Nacional de Perfumería y Cosmética) show that in the first six months of the year, total revenues for Spanish cosmetics and perfumes manufacturers rose by . . .
