Albéa: a world of decoration options for optimal differentiation and supply chain efficiency – all handled in-house

The new Albéa’s fully integrated decoration expertise delivers the innovation and supply chain efficiencies to differentiate new products and get them to market fast.

For customers across Europe, the company provides a variety of decoration options and technologies all seamlessly coordinated in-house.
The latest examples of excellence from this single-source packaging solutions provider will be on display at Luxe Pack Monaco, October 23-25, booth DE7.

“For European customers, Albéa’s production configuration delivers the cutting edge decoration that attracts retail attention and builds brands, whether mass, masstige or prestige,” said Jerome Liard, the company’s Technical Business Development Director. “From surface treatments to decorations to complex injection to metal forming, it is all European localized, and all seamlessly integrated in-house, by Albéa.

“Tubes, Cosmetic Rigid Packaging, Dispensing Systems and more can share common design elements for maximum on-shelf impact,” Jerome Liard said. “We deliver the complete pack, for the entire line, ensuring the highest visual and tactile appeal. The result is high quality, reduced development lead time and competitive pricing – all done in complete synergy with other Albéa sites.”

Surface Treatments and Decoration: A Deeper Look

The advanced range of Albéa technology includes surface treatments such as electroplating, lacquering, vacuum metallization and sputtering. A new sputtering line will be added in early 2014, in Simandre (Burgundy / France). Sputtering is a high technology coating first used in the optical and electronic industries.

Albéa’s mastery of the sputtering technique delivers three distinct and exciting advantages. First, cost savings for large runs over standard metallization result from the fact that it is a fully automated and integrated process. Second, sputtering allows for infinite color options. Finally, this technology has the added benefit of significantly improved sustainability (e.g., it is solvent-free and has a 50 percent less carbon impact).

In addition to surface treatments, Albéa also offers a full palette of packaging decorations, such as silk-screening, hot-stamping, heat transfer imagery, tampo printing and laser etching. Complex injection techniques include thick-wall and bi-injection.
As a result, the company is capable of providing virtually any possible look and feel to the package design, including metallic and wood effects, soft touch, 3-D effects and more. “Today, managing a complex packaging project is a key to success,” said Jerome Liard. “The Albéa value proposition delivers more value to our European – and global – customers than ever before. “Our ‘glocal’ approach provides the industry’s broadest scope of decoration and surface treatment options, to distinguish and differentiate our expanded portfolio of products.

“Combined with our passion for technical excellence, enhanced R&D/Innovation capabilities and tradition of customer service, we provide unmatched single-source solutions to handle customers’ most complex and important launches, in the EU, or wherever they are located,” Jerome Liard said.
