Anti-ageing hair care market to grow

The anti-ageing market is tipped to give a much needed boost to the hair care sector

The anti-ageing market could give a much needed boost to the hair care sector, according to market analyst Euromonitor. Value sales of hair care products have stagnated in most developed countries, according to Euromonitor, but the US and Japan in particular look poised to bring newness to the sector in the form of multi step regimes and specialty ingredients. Meanwhile, Japan and the US are expected to embrace the anti-ageing trend in hair care, although lower incomes in the BRICS could limit such opportunities.

When it comes to premium hair care sales, the US is ahead of all other countries, with sales approaching $3bn. Japan, though far behind, leads the rest of the world, with the UK, Canada and – perhaps surprisingly – Iran all following closely. When these figures are combined with those for annual disposable per capita income, Japan and the US emerge as the clear target markets for hair care brands and retailers.
