International specialists will share their expertise on hot topics and trends across diverse subjects as part of the paid-for Educational Programme.


Worldwide Regulatory Affairs – 16 April, 9:00 – 12:30 and 13:30 – 17:30

A two-part regulatory affairs workshop will provide a unique opportunity to learn more about the ever-changing landscape of cosmetic regulation across the globe. Attendees will hear from experts including Dr Annelie Struessmann of CONUSBAT, Dr Hueymin Lai from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Dr Tatiana Puchkova, from the Board of the Perfumery and Cosmetic Association of Russia (PCAR).


Anti-ageing – 16 April, 14:00 – 18:00

The workshop will enable visitors to learn about the latest ingredient trends in anti-ageing formulations during six presentations: ‘Anti-ageing ingredients: new trends’, ‘Cutaneous ageing: what happens?’, ‘Comparison of ageing between Asian and Caucasian skin’, ‘New techniques to evaluate the efficacy of anti-ageing products,’ ‘Formulating effective anti-ageing products’ and ‘Skin ageing atlas: ethnic differences’.


Cosmetic Formulation Optimisation – 16 April, 09:30 – 13:00

Attendees will gain a number of tricks and techniques that junior and senior formulators can employ to solve real-world product development challenges. Beginning with the basics of formulation, Perry Romanowski of Brains Publishing will go on to cover specific methods for optimising the feel, cost stability and performance of products.


Hair Science in Cosmetic Research – 17 April 2013, 09:00 – 13:00

Here experts will look at cosmetic hair science, enabling attendees to learn more about methods to successfully evaluate both the in vivo and in vitro techniques used to develop new hair care products. It will also examine how hair care ingredients can improve damaged hair whilst offering insight into how the cellular mechanisms involved in hair care growth work.


Cosmetic Microbiology – 17 April, 14:00 – 18:00

For the cosmetic industry, microorganisms represent both an opportunity and a threat. Contaminating organisms pose a serious and potentially expensive problem for manufacturers, whilst the fermentation processes driven by them can produce important ingredients in an efficient and affordable way. This workshop will drill down on the world of microorganisms and its impact on the industry.


Formulating using Green Ingredients – 18 April, 09:30 – 13:00

This workshop provides insight into how formulators can make the most of green ingredients, offering practical advice and guidance for organisations. Judi Beerling from Organic Monitor will lead the session and examine the breadth of green ingredients available, as well as the technical challenges involved in formulation.
