Online service teams up with high-end competitor to improve offering

StyleSeat has announced plans to acquire BeautyBooked – a New York-based booking platform for high end salons and spas.

BeautyBooked has more than 1,000 salons listed on its program and is expected to give StyleSalon access to its prestigious partnerships, including a collaboration with Condé Nast’s Allure.

Hillary Hutcheson, CEO and Co-founder at BeautyBooked, said: “We are excited to join forces with StyleSeat. Our salon partners will benefit greatly from StyleSeat’s vast customer base, cutting-edge technology and national footprint. We think StyleSeat is the perfect partner for BeautyBooked.”

Melody McCloskey, CEO and Co-founder at StyleSeat, added: “Styleseat is growing rapidly. While we specialise in independent professionals we’re excited to expand to also support salons and spas, a step forward in our mission to power a discovery and booking experience for everyone. The acquisition of BeautyBooked was a natural progression for us to deliver on our vision of becoming the OpenTable for the entire beauty industry.”

StyleSeat has recently reported 100% year-on-year growth with 23 million appointments booked in 2015. The service connects more than 350,000 beauty professionals with clients looking for haircuts, manicures, facials and more.
