Yindi Curls fundraises to inspire curly-haired children to love their natural hair

A crowdfuding campaign is aiming to create an A-Z series of videos teaching children with curly hair to love their natural look.

Called Yindi Curls, the campaign was created by natural hair care expert Roxanne Wright. She aims to promote self-esteem, self-respect and self-love to naturally curly children, targeting their parents and caregivers with the campaign.

Wright said: “Big hair deserves big imagination, not simply run of the mill products and techniques. Yindi Curls exists to celebrate all things kinky, curly, wavy, coiled, twisted, crimped and everything in between!”

The series will include an alphabetised list of hair terms, abbreviations and phrases, uploaded at a rate of one a week. Wright also hopes to fund monthly workshops on natural hair care. The series will be primarily aimed at families with black and mixed heritage, but Wright says that the campaign is open to all who are interested in curly hair.

Yindi Curls is hoping to secure a total of £4,000 in 40 days, having already gained a £300 donation from O2’s Think Big project.
