Start-up presents a new take on the supplements category

Equi London is a new supplement brand developed to support the health and skin care needs of busy urban professionals, who work hard and play hard, but are also health-conscious.

The brainchild of decade-long friends Alice Mackintosh, a Harley Street nutritionist and Rosie Speight – an entrepreneur who gained first-hand experience of juggling an ambitious career with social life and health goals while working in investment banking – Equi London is based around an Equi Eight Philosophy. This philosophy divides the body into systems – digestion, hormones, stress, structure, brain, immunity, detox and energy – all of which contribute equally to keeping one strong and healthy. By nourishing and realigning each system, the brand's supplements claim to balance the body, promote optimal function and restore harmony.

The brand is launching with two products: Fundamental and Beautiful. Fundamental (£55 for 180g) contains powerful natural food sources with antioxidants, omegas, probiotics and amino acids to support the body's fundamental systems, while the Beautiful variant (£62 for 240g) also features a GlowCutis complex, comprising absorbable and sustainable marine collagens, amino acids, resveratrol, hyaluronic acid, zinc, vitamin C and silica. Equi London's supplement powders are designed to be taken once-a-day and last for 30 days, delivering the nutritional equivalent of 15-20 pills per serving.

What is unique about the brand, said Speight, is the positioning. “We saw a real gap in the supplement market for something that was really high quality and truly effective, and also beautifully branded with a real message behind it,” she told Cosmetics Business. The brand message is for a non-judgemental fix for the stresses of the modern, city lifestyle. “We are calling Equi the antidote to modern living, and that really does encapsulate what we are about and who we are targeting, which is busy, work hard play hard 25-45-year-olds. You don't have to become teetotal, or vegan or gluten free,” she added: “We just want to supplement your life.”

Equi London is available at www.equilondon.com from this month.
