Estée Lauder EMEA President to retire after 25 years

Ivan Fernandez will be succeeded by Peter Jueptner

The Estée Lauder companies has announced that Ivan Fernandez will retire from his position as President, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective 31 August.

Taking over from Fernandez is Peter Jueptner who will assume the role from 1 September onwards. Jueptner will report to Group President, International, Cedric Pouvé.

Fernandez has worked at Estée Lauder for 25 years. He stepped into the newly created role of President, EMEA in 2008 and was in charge of growing the region’s profitability, evolving the company’s business model and developing local talent.

In a statement released by Lauder, it noted: “Under his leadership, the region has achieved consistent growth ahead of the industry, ultimately becoming one of the company’s fastest-growing regions today. His numerous contributions to the company throughout his tenure have been both far-reaching and isntrumental to the company’s continued growth and expansion across brands and markets.”

Fernandez’s successor, Jueptner, is currently Executive Vice President, Strategy, New Business Development and Transformation Initiatives. His skill-set is said to make him “uniquely qualified” to take on Fernandez’s role. Jueptner has overseen six company acquisitions, including the takeover of Smashbox, which took place in 2010. A successor for Jueptner will be announced shortly.

The statement read: “As the leader of the company’s strategic initiatives, Jueptner has been at the forefront of industry insights, trends and the biggest opportunities critical to the long-term growth of the company. His solid leadership capabilities, coupled with his brand, retail and operational expertise, make him ideally suited to further develop the company’s strong position in EMEA.”

At the same time as this announcement, it was also confirmed that Stephane de la Faverie has been appointed Global Brand President, Estée Lauder.
