Positive results posted despite earlier Citigroup warnings

Estée Lauder has shared its sales results for the fiscal 2015 second quarter. The company exceeded expectations with net sales of $3.04 billion – an increase of 1% compared with the same period in the previous year.

Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our successful performance this quarter reflected solid global demand for our brands, including a strong holiday season. Out results further demonstrate our ability to grow despite currency headwinds and softness in several countries.”

Key drivers for growth included emerging markets and the UK, as well as luxury brands and online channels. The results exceeded expectations and have led the company to set more ambitious plans for the coming months.

Freda added: “Our second half plans call for an acceleration of sales and profit growth channels and brands. Wit the agility we have created, we will continue to strategically invest in growth opportunities, even in the face of softness and challenges in certain markets.”
