Evonik invests €16.6m in new cosmetics innovation centre
Future-focused site will open in 2013
Evonik has announced it is to invest €16.6m in a new innovation centre for its Consumer Specialities Business Unit, based in Essen. The centre, which will open in 2013 and will cover 5,000 sqm, has been pitched as a headquarters for developing future orientated cosmetics products.
The investment is part of a wider €31m plan by the German supplier to upgrade its innovation business and also includes new research facilities for the paints and coatings industry.
“Both the paints & coatings and cosmetics industry are strong market segments, “ commented Evonik chairman, Klaus Engel. “We want to be in a position to offer our customers future-ready solutions. The two innovation centres will not only offer us scope for research and development, they shall also strengthen our competitiveness and our position in the market.”
