The specialty chemicals company is on a global expansion drive

German specialty chemicals company Evonik is pushing ahead with making its R&D structure for cosmetics more international.

The company, which manufactures active ingredients for the cosmetic industry, recently opened innovation centres in Midrand in South Africa and Singapore. It is hoped these new centres will support clients in the Sub-Saharan Africa region and in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Hans-Josef Ritzert, Managing Director of Evonik Nutrition & Care, said: "The distinctly expanded global structure of Innovation Management strengthens our position as a strategic partner of our customers close to their local markets and thus supports profitable growth."

Evonik already has an established presence in many countries worldwide, with sites in Essen, Guarulhos in Brazil, Hopewell in the US, and Shanghai in China.

Pushing ahead with developments in the hair sub-category, Evonik has just added a hair laboratory to the applications laboratory that has existed in Guarulhos in Brazil since 2012 to meet demand in Central and South America.
