The Philippine manufacturer is to build new production facilities to market products throughout the ASEAN countries

GT Cosmetics Manufacturing, a Philippine manufacturer in Cebu City, is building new production facilities, as it plans to market its products in Japan and throughout the ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam).

The firm plans to double production to 80,000 units a day when the new plant is completed later this year. Leonora Salvane, a chemical engineer, founded the company in 1996. The company initially produced soaps that Salvane and her family had developed as a hobby over previous years, based on natural organic materials. Today, the product range includes soaps, creams (GT Whitening Cream with Sunblock SPF 15; GT Anti-Aging Bleaching Cream with Anti-Oxidant; GT Moisturizing Day Cream), and a toner (GT Witch Hazel Extract Clarifiance). New products are in the pipeline for introduction later this year including a papaya lotion, liquid soap, fragrances and body scrub.

According to Salvane, GT products already has a presence in Japan, Korea, China, US, Canada and Finland, although orders in some countries are low. She said the new plant will help cope with increased demand as retail partners – eg. Watsons – plan their own expansion. The company also plans to become a globally competitive brand.
