Social commerce platform provides recommendations based on the individual

A new social commerce platform has launched that connects hair care brands and consumers through a personalised filtering process.

Hair Library, found at hairlibrary.com, presents consumers with hair care product recommendations filtered by their hair type, texture, conditions, chemical treatments, length, style and demographic. It is notably inclusive of all hair types and textures, in line with the rise of the multicultural beauty trend.

There are more than 1000 featured brands in the library so far, including Kimble Beauty, Dry Divas, LisaRaye Hair Products, Mixtina and Basic Hair Care. Users of the site can write reviews as well as add video hair tutorials.

Hair Library was founded by CEO Morgan Gantt, after she struggled to distinguish the benefits of one hair product over another at a local retailer. Gantt said: "The method of trial and error in beauty, especially hair, is an expensive undertaking and can also be very damaging to your hair. Throughout my travels around the world it became apparent how widespread hair struggles are for all people of different ethnic backgrounds and hair types, exclusive of my own personal experiences.”
