27-year-old British actress switches on the retailer’s storefront window lights and first ever Christmas tree

Harrods has switched on the lights to its festive storefront windows with the help of British actress Lily James.

The window was created in partnership with heritage brand Burberry, which was responsible for its overall design.

James, 27, is famous for her role as Lady Rose Aldridge in Downton Abbey.

At the event, she also helped the high-end retailer switch on the lights to its first ever Christmas tree, located on Hans Crescent and designed by Burberry.

It is the first time Harrods has partnered with a celebrity to switch on its lights.

The store window and tree unveiling coincided with the launch of an exclusive limited edition fashion, accessories and gifts collection by Burberry.

The window tells the story of A Very British Fairy Tale, featuring two children on an adventure through a snowy, magical English country house where the ordinary is transformed into the spectacular.

It depicts flying cars, floating bathtubs and secret passages, as well as an interactive sensory window.

Passers-by can alter the lighting and music, which was composed specially for the window display.

Every weekend through to 25 December, shoppers at the luxury department store can view the craftsmanship behind Burberry products at live stations in the exhibition windows.
