According to The NPD Group’s Annual Beauty Consumer Economic Indicator, 2014 saw the industry’s lowest level of US shoppers buying beauty since 2008. Karen Grant, Global Beauty Industry Analyst at The NPD Group, explained the main reason for this was due to competition among beauty and other types of brands, who are all vying for consumers’ attention – and money.
