Estée Lauder owned colour cosmetics firm M.A.C has opened its first flagship fusion store at 45 Powell Street in San Francisco’s Union Square. The store has a sales floor of 1,340sqft and a total space of 3,000sqft and will stock all of M.A.C’s professional and normal retail ranges – around 1,700 skus.
Global Brand President Karen Buglisi Weiler said the store had been chosen partly because M.A.C caters to many professional make-up artists in the city. The idea is make the firm’s work in professional make-up for film, television and theatre better known to the ordinary consumer.
There will be four zones in the store: zone one is new collections, of which M.A.C creates around 50 per year, along with the firm’s signature colour selection; zone two is the service area, with a private make-up room and six make-up stations; zone three stocks professional products; and zone four offers the Prep+Prime and Mineralize collections, and a lash bar with 40 types of lashes. Zones three and four will also feature custom video walls.
A total of 45 make-up artists will be on hand to offer advice and the location will also be used for seminars, special events and training sessions.
