Brazilian cosmetic manufacturer reports impressive net revenue growth in Q1 2014

Brazilian cosmetic manufacturer Natura Cosméticos has reported that its consolidated net revenue grew by 15.2% in the first quarter of 2014, compared to Q1 2013.

EBITDA amounted to Brazilian reals R$283.6m and net income came to R$117.2m. In Latin America (excluding Brazil) company grew 37.4% in local currency – in Brazil, the company saw net revenues grow 9.1%. International operations, including Australian brand Aesop, which was acquired by Natura a year ago, represented 18.4% of consolidated revenue, achieving a 53% increase in revenues compared to the previous year. In response to the continuing competitive environment in Brazil, the company increased investment in marketing, product innovation and launches. These initiatives contributed to an 8.2% increase in consultant productivity and to the growth in net revenue, the company said.

For 2014, Natura will continue to build on its goal of investing R$500m in capital expenditure. The company already invested R$135m in capital expenditure in Q1, with the funds going towards the completion of the Ecoparque in Benevides, its new factory in Cajamar and investment in information technology.
