Accountable to drive the NPD process via strong project management for designated programs

Designer Parfums began as a business specialising in the supply and distribution of branded fine fragrance to independent retailers. As the retail sector evolved and the market place shifted to include the large retail chains and high street giants, our success came through the supply of goods at competitive prices and an understanding of the needs of the consumer and the manufacturers.

KEY TASKS:

  • Support marketing / brand in early screening of new product concepts measuring feasibility in via cost, project complexity and timing.
  • Lead and facilitate designated NPD projects to deliver on time and cost. Defining, agreeing, monitoring and issuing all project planning communication to internal and external stakeholders via Stake holder Timesheets / schedules.
  • Extensive trouble-shooting to reduce or minimise project risks.
  • Proactively managing and communicating risk throughout the project lifecycle to avoid issues and escalation via the senior manager when required.
  • Ensure that project tasks are directed through the appropriate gate approval process – capturing and approving golden / star samples at each stage.
  • Lead cross functional project teams (internal) including 3rd party suppliers through each phase of the project(s), co-ordinating all activities to ensure project(s) remains on track via ‘Stake Holder Timesheets’.
  • Liaising, agreeing, involving and communicating all aspects of the project with the NPD Manager / Head of NPD.
  • Managing COGs / Cost of goods to deliver on forecasted budget.
  • Admin: populating, maintaining working BOMS, Cost analysis matrixes, Supplier Briefing Documents and other peripheral admin tasks associated with the NPD process.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years Project Management experience
  • In depth understanding of product development within cosmetics
  • 1-2 years in the fragrance / beauty industry
  • Moderate to strong MS Excel / Project Manager Skill
  • Must have a passion to learn as the nature of this role is very hands on

Ideal Attributes:

  • Prince2 Project Management Qualification
  • Experience of working across a matrix organisation and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Have demonstrable ability to capture and prioritise and properly manage project risks.
  • Have significant breadth of knowledge of Fragrance / Cosmetic / Beauty NPD project management.
  • Have track record of developing successful projects using a "stage-gate" development process.
  • Be self-motivated and an "out of the box" thinker with excellent organisational skills.
