Group strengthens position in premium hair care market

PZ Cussons has acquired premium hair care brand Fudge from Australian-based Sabre Group in a deal worth £25.5m. The brand will be placed in the recently formed PZ Cussons Beauty Group arm, which includes St Tropez, The Sanctuary and Charles Worthington.

PZ Cussons said Fudge’s sales are split approximately 50/50 between the UK and Europe, and Australia and New Zealand, and generated a revenue of £15.7m for the year ended 30 June 2011.

“We are delighted to be acquiring such a young, vibrant brand and I am very excited about its prospects and untapped potential,” commented Michelle Feeney, ceo PZ Cussons Beauty. Fudge is a natural fit for our portfolio as we continue to bring well-loved brands back to the forefront and make beauty accessible to all.”

The cash purchase is expected to be completed by the end of January following the satisfaction of certain regulatory obligations.
