Eco airless system scoops top prize

French packaging company Promens has taken top honours at the first Luxe Pack in Green awards, which were held during the Luxe Pack trade show in Monaco last week.

The awards, which were judged by a panel of sustainable packaging experts, including Michel Fontaine, president of the French Packaging Association, Conseil National de l’Emballage, and LVMH’s Alexandre Capelli, mark the first such event held at the trade show and represents the increasing influence green packaging has on the wider packaging sector.

Promens’ winning entry, the Ecolution airless pump is said to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and can be easily recycled compared to traditional piston based airless packaging because it is made entirely from plastic. It can also be recycled with polyethylene.

The pump is made of up four components, compared to the traditional 12 used to assemble traditional piston-based airless dispensers, which the company says reduces CO2 emissions by 30%. It is available with two actuators – short and long – and comes in five sizes, 50ml, 100ml, 200ml, 400ml and 500ml.
