Revlon releases ingredients list amid legal troubles

Company has publicly released ingredients usage after alleged safety concerns

Following news of the lawsuit brought against Revlon by former employee Alan Meyers, who recently accused CEO Lorenzo Delpani of allegedly ignoring safety concerns, Revlon has released a list of its ingredients detailing its use or non-use of controversial ingredients.

Most of the ingredients listed have been shrouded in safety concerns such as formaldehyde, toluene and DBP, petrolatum, polyacrylamide, sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan and various commonly used preservatives.

The statement, which can be accessed publicly at www.revlon.com/ingredients, states: "All of the ingredients used by Revlon are approved and have been determined as safe for their intended use by many different scientific expert panels and regulatory authorities, such as the FDA, the US Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety and Health Canada."

In what could be interpreted as a response to Meyer's safety allegations, Revlon said: "Some of these ingredients have been sensationalised by reports in the press or on the internet as having potential safety concerns. In our summary we have included factual, scientific information relating to the ingredients we use, and encourage you to use additional, scientific resources to inform yourself about product safety."
