Small, high value beauty products are in high demand among Russian shoplifters. It’s not hard to understand: crushed wages, slumped oil revenues and the brute force of Western sanctions all contributed to a 40% surge in shoplifting in 2014, according new data from Russia’s Federal Tax Service. The most popular types of items stolen included cosmetics, fragrances, alcohol and coffee.
