Second SPIM attracts 100 participants 14-Dec-2010

The second biennial Skin Physiology International Meeting (SPIM), organised by Greentech, gathered around 100 participants. The congress, which aims to create a stimulating environment for cosmetic scientists to analyse the latest advances in skin physiology, was held in Vichy, France and ran from 17-19 November.

Topics discussed included stem cells, neuronal skin sensitivity, the endocannabinoid system, antimicrobial defence mechanisms, the molecular and structural biology of the skin and skin microflora.

In addition, the congress recognised rising talent within the industry. Nine young researches presented their work before the assembly and two outstanding contributions – one involving work on the gene code of skin barrier proteins and the other for research into the mesenchymal stem – were awarded a prize of $10,000.
