Spanish cosmetics and toiletries brands are continuing to gather pace in Brazil

Spanish cosmetics and toiletries brands are continuing to gather pace in Brazil. The South American market is now the third largest export market for perfumery and cosmetic products behind the US and Japan. Spanish exports to Brazil during the first half of 2013 climbed 45% compared to the same period in 2012. Between January to July this year, Spanish exports to Portugal grew by 22%, while exports to the US by 7%. Exports to Argentina, meanwhile, climbed by 34% and to Brazil by a significant 45%.

At the recent Salon Look International trade show, held in Madrid between 4-6 October, STANPA hosted meetings between Spanish brands and Brazilian buyers. During the show, roughly 40 Spanish manufacturers of skin care, hair, fragrance, colour cosmetics and hygiene products took part in these meetings, working to strengthen Spain's personal care presence in the emerging market.

“The opening of markets and foreign trade are of strategic importance for us at the moment. Proof of this is that since 2010 exports have grown by 30% reaching a total of €2.436m in 2012. In the current market, exports are the sector’s growth path” said Marival Diez, STANPA Director General.
