Standard Soap to close UK factory 25-Nov-2011

The Standard Soap Company has announced it is to shut its factory in Ashby De La Zouch in Leicestershire with the loss of 155 jobs. The company, which is owned by Malaysian firm KLK produces bar soaps for a number of well-known personal care brands including Crabtree & Evelyn.

It is thought the closure, which is set for 2nd January, is due to the growth in popularity of liquid soap formats over traditional bar soaps.
