Retailer is pushing ahead with airport strategy

A.S. Watson retailer Superdrug has opened a new store in Bristol Airport, UK, pushing further into the airport retail arena.

The 1,575sqft space was designed and built as part of a major terminal extension project recently undertaken by the airport. The store will stock a slew of products for holiday-makers including the retailer’s own Solait sun care brand as well as insect repellent.

The latest store opening complements Superdrug’s wider strategy with regard to airport stores; it currently operates stores in Leeds Bradford Airport, Nottingham East Midlands Iarport and Belfast International, while a store in Edinburgh Airport is slated to open later this year.

Nigel Duxbury, Superdrug Property Director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bristol Airport to offer travellers their health and beauty essentials before they fly. Our store’s shelves are packed with the products we know travellers want to pick up before their flight – and we look forward to the summer season ahead.”

Bristol Airport sees approximately 6.3 million passengers pass through its doors annually. The new extension is expected to draw in an additional 10 million.
