Single-floor office to house 37 employees working across fragrance, flavours, active ingredients, raw materials and function ingredients

Symrise, the active ingredients and raw materials supplier, has opened a new office and laboratory in New York, US.

The $3.75m space was created by architect Montroy Andersen DeMarco (MADGI) and has been designed for 37 Symrise employees working across fragrance, flavours, cosmetics active ingredients, raw materials and function ingredients.

The office is located at 505 Park on the 15th floor, and now features private offices with clear glass walls as well as an open-plan area. A 'floating' demountable wall can also be used to create privacy when required.

Taking inspiration from its New York location, a meeting area has been nicknamed 'the speakeasy' where salespeople and clients can meet with perfumers.

Symrise Vice President Rhona Stokols said: "Before the renovation, the sales force was on one floor and the perfumers were on another, preventing the easy flow of ideas.

"MADGI gave us an optimised working space, helping us to flatten the hierarchy within the office while still providing for privacy needs in terms of meetings.”
