Technical Manager – South West - £35-40,000

You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent with at least 10 years’ experience in a relevant product development role.

With responsibility for managing a team of Chemists and technicians and multiple ranges under development, you will work closely with all internal departments to ensure technical functions work efficiently.  You will delegate work to Senior Chemists and Chemists and oversee their training and development, keeping up to date with all the chemists’ projects and monitoring progress through the NPD meeting system and through regular laboratory contact.

You will compile and monitor technical work instructions, monitoring, maintaining and updating technical processes and systems, paying particular attention to Creativity and the NPD system, the management and monitoring of stability testing systems and the stability testing technicians. Working closely with the Process Chemist and Process department to ensure products are scaled up successfully.

Collaborating with Technical Managers and the Head of Technical Operations on the compilation of relevant technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), you will work closely with the Technical Director and Marketing colleagues on all new product briefs and liaising directly with customer contacts when required.

You will be responsible for the maintenance of accurate records relating to the development and production of safe and legal cosmetics and personal care formulations.

Keeping up to date with raw material launches and product formulation and market trends is key, as is maintaining a thorough knowledge of cosmetic regulations and ensuring all products are developed in line with safety and legal guidelines. You will also be responsible for hygiene standards within the laboratory, ensuring it remains a clean, safe and efficient workplace.

This role requires compliance with company policy including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH).
