FeyeCon had its inaugural participation as an exhibitor at in-cosmetics April this year. The Dutch-based SME is a true process and product development company and the global leader in CO2 technology.
With its participation, FeyeCon’s aim was to introduce cosmetic companies to unparalleled sustainable processing possibilities based on technology that uses reclaimed CO2. Those CO2 processes are clean, allowing the improvement of ingredients and end-products without having to compromise between functionality, quality or sustainability.
In the cosmetic industry, CO2 is mostly known as a superior extraction medium for pure, natural fragrances and active ingredients. FeyeCon builds on the popularity of CO2 extraction to introduce an array of equally beneficial methods for formulation of green cosmetics. Two highlights from in-cosmetics :
- Stabilisation of natural pigments: FeyeCon uses its propriety CO2 technology, not just to extract but also to encapsulate ingredients. Stabilising natural colorants and protecting them from oxidation-, UV-, and temperature-related degradation that impairs quality and functionality. The coatings used are tailor-made and natural, ensuring premium natural and sustainable pigments with a long and stable shelf-life.
- Micronisation of fat powders: CO2 micronisation technology provides a simplified and environmentally-friendly alternative to conventional energy-intensive processes. With it, three-dimensional porous particles from fats and waxes are created, delivering an array of textures. Active ingredients can be added simultaneously for improved functionality and structure. The simplified formulation, coupled with lower energy consumption lead to significant cost-savings.
In this way FeyeCon helps companies address environmental issues such as water scarcity, chemical waste management and energy consumption without driving up processing costs.
