Etieno Skincare and JustBe Botanicals feature in 2016 list

Two skin care companies have been included in this year’s Small Biz 100 list by the Small Business Saturday event.

Small Business Saturday is a dedicated day of events for small businesses in the UK. This year's event will take place on 3 December. It is the UK’s most successful small business campaign.

In the 100 days leading up to the day itself, the organisation will feature one small business on its website each day.

Two of the companies selected for this year’s event are: Etieno Skincare and JustBe Botanicals, both independent skin care brands.

Etieno Skincare is based in Colindale, London. It was set-up by cancer survivor Precious Jason who found that standard cosmetics irritated her skin after undergoing stem cell transplant treatments.

The company now produces natural products designed to soothe the side effects of cancer treatment on the skin.

Jason explained: “After talking to other patients on my ward I realised that my symptoms were not unique to me and that other patients also felt conscious about their appearance post treatment[…] I now have a range of exceptional products and a tribe of happy customers who are facing the world again. We are empowering people one product at a time.”

JustBe Botanicals is based in Edinburgh. The company created skin care products and spa treatments said to help people “just be”. Founded by aromatherapist Gail Bryden, the company makes its products in small batches with only natural ingredients.

Bryden explained: “JustBe started six years ago with four blends of massage oils and, through working with Armathwaite Hall, a luxury spa in the Lake District, the range has evolved to include a facial range, eight spa treatments, herbal teas and music.”

Small Business Saturday is a free event and all small companies are invited to get involved.

Michelle Ovens, Campaign Director, explained: “Although the campaign focuses on one day, the goal is to have a lasting impact on small businesses by changing mindsets so that people make it their mission to support small businesses all year round.”
