Two market research agencies, Fast Market Research Beauty and Euromonitor, report that beauty and personal care are growing markets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Among the factors behind the growth, rising disposable incomes in the neighbouring countries, an increase in tourism and expatriates, a greater number of working women, as well as an increase in retail development (large outlets and shopping malls) may all play a part. Luxury products, colour cosmetics and male grooming products in particular did well in 2013, and are forecast to continue growing in popularity.

Fast Market Research noted that L'Oréal Middle East leads the UAE cosmetics market. However, according to the agency, there is not much brand loyalty among consumers, which allows smaller companies the opportunity to compete. In Saudi Arabia, said Euromonitor, “L'Oréal was the leading player in colour cosmetics in 2013 with 20.9% value share.”
