Ulta Q3 sales jump 22 per cent

US beauty chain Ulta Beauty has posted a strong third quarter, after seeing its net sales climb 22.4 per cent to $505.6m from $413.1m in the same prior-year quarter.


US beauty chain Ulta Beauty has posted a strong third quarter, after seeing its net sales climb 22.4 per cent to $505.6m from $413.1m in the same prior-year quarter.

Comparable store sales jumped 8.4 per cent on last year, while net income increased 42.5 per cent to $38.2m compared to $26.8m in the previous year. Ulta also continued its retail expansion plans, opening 49 new stores during the quarter, and bringing its total number of US outlets to 537.

"Ulta drove better than expected sales growth and operating margin improvement to deliver outstanding performance in the third quarter. We gained market share across all of our major product categories through our disciplined focus on the five components of our multi-year growth strategy: accelerating store growth, introducing new products, services and brands, enhancing our loyalty program, broadening our marketing reach, and increasing our digital focus including Ulta.com," said Chuck Rubin, president and ceo.
