Boosting technology for silicone products and chemical raw materials

Munich-based chemical group Wacker is strengthening its presence in South India by expanding the local sales office in Chennai, India.

The company says the enlarged office, operated by joint venture Wacker Metroark Chemicals Pvt Ltd (WMC), will enable it to provide optimum local support to customers and business partners in South India, helping to further tap into the fast growing markets for high-quality silicones and chemical raw materials in India.

The expansion follows vigorous growth in India’s economy. “The region around Chennai is renowned for its dynamic and fast growing industries”, explained O’Neil Remedios, vp sales & marketing at WMC. The local office will serve the expanding markets in the region, which Wacker says will enable it to reinforce its position as a technology leader for silicone products and chemical raw materials.

WMC’s local sales office in South India has therefore moved into bigger premises in the centre of Chennai. The office will be operated by the joint venture WMC and will focus on silicone emulsions, silicone resins, silanes and sealants for the automotive, electronics, textile, leather and personal care industries.

“Our primary goal is to offer our Indian customers and partners products and solutions perfectly matched to their requirements and thereby help them to enhance their own business success. The expansion of our sales office allows us to provide better local support than ever,” said Soumitra Mukherjee, md of WMC, at the opening ceremony for the new office.
