Hailed for its skin and hair benefits, avocado has become an ingredients list badge of honour for beauty brands

The humble avocado has reached heights of popularity that no-one could have predicted ten years ago.

Formerly only spotted under a dollop of prawn marie rose, the green mild-flavoured fruit and member of the flowering plant family Lauraceae has become the star of its own show in the food industry, supported by the wider healthy-living trend.

But as we know, what ends up on the kitchen table has a knack of making its way into the bathroom.

Today, it’s not just the fresh food aisles packed with the pear-shaped fruit, but beauty shelves too.
