Surfactant market to grow annually by 4.5% to 2018

Growth to be driven by Asia Pacific

Market research institute Ceresana Research expects the global surfactant market to generate revenues of more than $41bn in 2018, translating to an average annual growth of 4.5%.

Over the next eight years, Ceresana says it expects countries in Asia Pacific to increase their shares in the surfactant market, mainly at the expense of Western Europe and North America. South America will also see strong growth because of massive increases in production in Brazil.

In addition, the company predicts a trend towards non-ionic surfactants between 2010 and 2018. But despite this, anionics will remain the most widely used surfactants especially in Africa, the Middle East and many Asian countries.
