Changing legislation may have both positive and negative impacts on the aerosol manufacturing industry. But C&T companies have plenty of choice when it comes to aerosol cans, actuators, valves and propellants.

2011 is the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association’s (BAMA) 50th anniversary year, a landmark recently celebrated at its Autumn Forum and Awards Dinner in Manchester, UK (20-21 October).
The region’s aerosol industry has certainly come a long way since the first insecticide and air freshener sprays began production in the UK back in 1949. Last year, UK aerosol filling figures topped 1.27 billion units, up 3.3% on 2009, and personal care products remained the main driver of growth. In the largest category – deodorants, body sprays and antiperspirants – production increased 1.1% on the prior year period to 593 million, while the hairsprays and hair mousses category grew by 13 million units, totalling nearly 82 million.
