Procter & Gamble has announced its commitment to environmental sustainability by setting new long and short-term targets. The goals are part of P&G’s strategy to grow responsibly and include: using 100% renewable energy in the company’s plants; using 100% renewable or recycled materials for all products and packaging; having zero consumers and manufacturing waste go to landfill; and designing products that delight consumers while maximizing the conservation of resources.
The company will implement a series of ten-year sustainability goals while focusing on near term goals that will hold it accountable for its long-term mission. The first set of ten-year sustainability goals will be delivered by 2020 and P&G will report progress against these goals on an annual basis.
Len Sauers , P&G vice president , global sustainability, commented: “We recognise our impact as a global company and accept our responsibility for continual improvement. By implementing this new vision, P&G is trying to help solve some of the key sustainability challenges the business will face over the coming decades.”
