Abstract
The beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France is becoming increasingly well known for its spa and skin care products, as it takes advantage of the plentiful natural resources at its disposal. Many growers in the region specialise in cultivating olives, rose, thyme and lavender.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France has a wealth of natural ingredients at its disposal which are being increasingly used in the cosmetics industry. With over 200 growers of high quality beauty ingredients, 15 major skin care laboratories, 30 manufacturers and 50 spas, the region is being billed as the rising star of the French spa and skin care industry.
Of the export business in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, 52% of this is made up of cosmetics with the remainder going to spas, thalassotherapy and spa treatment centres, food supplements, essential oils, herbal medicines and aromatherapy, in that order.
