More sustainable than single-use sheet masks, and a non-injectable alternative to Botox, silicone patches are on the rise for their hydrating and wrinkle-smoothing results and reusability.

Silicone patches and masks, which are made from medical-grade silicone and are worn for a specified period of time or overnight, form an occlusive barrier which blocks water loss by diffusion from the epidermis and helps to lock in moisture.

They also keep the skin under the mask taut, helping the facial muscles to relax.

While any wrinkle-smoothing results are temporary, silicone patches tap into the ‘notox’ trend which is seeing a shift away from Botox towards no-needle alternatives that can smooth and tighten the skin.

This has led to product entries such as Nudieface's Notox Forehead and Frown Lines Silicone Wrinkle Patch, which was a finalist at the Pure Beauty Awards in 2023.

The product promises an instant improvement of fine lines and wrinkles if worn for a minimum of two hours.
