And signs first distribution deal in Asia

Aqua Bio Technology ASA (ABT), which develops and markets patented marine-based ingredients to the personal care industry, is to relaunch its main product Zonase X under the new trade mark Aquabeautine XL to more clearly communicate its activity.

Sales & marketing director and head of product development for ABT, Fanny Coste explains: “Until now the focus has been on Zonase and its outstanding exfoliating properties, but the enzyme only represents a fraction of the effective proteins contained in our product. As our latest studies have demonstrated, Aquabeautine XL is much more than an exfoliant, and therefore has greater potential than what has been communicated through our brand.”

The new trade name is derived from the company name and the word beauty and is designed to reposition the ingredient as a multifunctional, global anti-ageing active.

Aquabeautine XL is the first product of the Aquabeautine range derived from salmon hatching fluid technology. Another Aquabeautine product is currently under development and will be launched by the end of the year.

ABT has also signed its first distribution agreement in Asia with South Korean cosmetic ingredients distributor Seil International Ltd.

"This is an important milestone for ABT as this agreement opens the doors to Asia and confirms the significant commercial potential of our ingredients in that region", says Coste.

The agreement gives Seil International exclusivity on marketing and distribution of ABT’s products in South Korea and is part of ABT’s global strategy to partner with leading regional distributors of cosmetic raw materials to increase market impact.
