Aesop has launched a Paris pop-up with Pierre Paulin

The Australian cosmetics company teamed up with the designer to create the treatment rooms

Australian cosmetics company Aesop will open a pop-up shop in Paris this month, at 205 rue Saint Honoré, in the first arrondissement. It will be open until the end of April.

The shop has been conceived as a temporary design collaboration with the site owner, Paulin Paulin Paulin, marketer for works by French furniture designer Pierre Paulin.

Quite by chance, Paulin’s son, Benjamin, noticed that Aesop was using a vintage Pierre Paulin armchair in its Condorcet store, and teamed up with Aesop’s internal architect, Jean-Philippe Bonnefoi, to create and furnish the pop-up.

Aesop has chosen iconic Pierre Paulin pieces to furnish the store and create, “a space that makes you forget the passage of time,” said Benjamin Paulin.

A succession of three rooms aims to progressively disconnect the visitor from the outside world in order to prepare for facial treatments.

“Our aim was to create a monochromatic, multi-textural approach to the environment for the body to touch, smell, hear, feel and see,” said Bonnefoi.

In the first room, which has a metal threshold, the walls are created from 120 wax panels that diffuse the light, while the furniture includes a Pierre Paulin Tanis desk and an Anda chair by Ligne Roset.

A wooden passageway leads to the second room, which features a Paulin Elysée table with five Little Globe chairs by Artifort and an Osaka sofa by La Cividina.

The final, Facial Appointments, space features an Elysée chair and two vintage Elysée floor lamps by Pierre Paulin.

It is the first time Aesop has made its Facial Appointments treatments available in Paris.

They last 60-75min, and are based on ingredients such as parsley seed and vitamin E.

The store will also host talks, workshops and one-on-one meetings with both companies’ clients.
