Online retail giant Amazon has announced it will be taking on more than 120,000 seasonal employees in the US to meet demand in the lead up to the busy holiday period.

While many of the roles are location-specific, some customer services positions offer the opportunity to work from home.

Mike Roth, Amazon Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment, said: “This is our favorite time of year – we love serving customers during the busy holiday season and we’re excited to bring on more than 120,000 seasonal employees this year to support growing customer demand.

“Last year alone, more than 14,000 seasonal employees stayed on in regular, full-time positions after the holidays and we expect to increase that number this year.”

Amazon relies heavily on full-time employees; throughout the year on average nearly 90% of staff across the company’s US fulfillment network are full-time staff.

Full-time employees are rewarded with Amazon’s generous benefit package including healthcare, stock awards and bonuses.

Amazon also recently announced that its Handmade at Amazon store concept would be expanding into Europe.

Handmade at Amazon focuses on the sale of handmade products across a range of consumer categories.

While cosmetics is not listed as a category of its own currently, several sellers do make perfume oils and candles, scrubs and beauty accessories such as tool holders and reusable cotton facial ‘scrubbies’.
