This is the second perfume in the Grammy award winner’s portfolio that she has named after one of her song releases

Ariana Grande has expanded her US$500m fragrance empire with the launch of a new scent.

The highly anticipated R.E.M. fragrance (from $44), named after her 2019 song and developed with fragrance provider Firmenich, features top notes of fig, pear and salted caramel with heart tones of lavender essence and pear blossom, and a base of tonka bean, white musk and sandalwood.

R.E.M. joins the Grammy award winner’s Ari and Cloud scents, and latterly Thank U, Next scents, which was also inspired by her popular song release.

“The continued success and stellar growth of Ariana’s fragrance portfolio is a testament to her relationship with her fans and the passion, and authentic involvement she has with her brand,” said Tony Bajaj, Luxe Brands’ CEO.

“We are honoured to again be partnering with such a groundbreaking artist and look forward to continued success with the launch of R.E.M..”

The pop princess first teamed up with Luxe Brands in 2015 for her debut Ari fragrance and initial retail sales in 2017 reached $150m.

“The R.E.M. fragrance has quickly become a favourite of mine,” added the 27-year-old.

“So much so that I named it after one of my favourite songs and paired it with one of my favorite visuals which is that 60’s mod, space, dream world.”

She continued: “This scent feels warmer, sexier, more grown and kind of grounded, more so than the others but the secret ingredient that gives it that sweetness and ties it in with the rest of the family is caramel.

“I am very excited about this and hope everyone loves it as much as I do.”

The animated visuals of the R.E.M. scent is a first for the brand and was created by illustrator Cheyen Gallarde.

The fragrance is available exclusively at ulta.com and will launch into Ulta Beauty stores across the US from 6 September.
