China’s cosmetics sector was worth Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY) 204.9bn last year, up by 12.3% in 2015, and is predicted to grow to CNY 338bn by 2020, according to Mintel. However, the male grooming sector has been struggling to grow at even half that rate. According to Euromonitor’s figures, the segment rose by an estimated 4.65% in 2016 to US$1.997bn (at constant 2015 prices) in 2016.
Allied Market Research claims that male grooming in China is the fastest growing sector in Asia Pacific. However, other analysts argue that on a year-by-year basis the market is stagnant.
