The application laboratory will focus on the local needs of African manufacturers and consumers

Azelis, the Belgium-headquartered distributor of specialty ingredients, has opened a new personal care laboratory in Midrand, South Africa.

The new lab is equipped to support various personal care applications, including hair care, skin care, sun care, baby care, oral care and colour cosmetics.

It will also have a strong focus on the local needs of Azelis’ African customers and their consumers, the company said.

Together with the company’s existing laboratory in Cairo, Egypt, the new lab is expected to reinforce Azelis’ personal care business’ presence in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

Chris Sacy, Managing Director of Azelis MEA, described the opening as “a significant milestone for Azelis MEA”.

“With this state-of-the-art facility, we can now provide more tailored and up-to-date solutions for our customers' personal care needs,” he said.

“We are confident that this will enhance our position as a leading service provider for specialty ingredients and innovative concepts.”

Serge Yeterian, Azelis’ Life Science Market Segment Director, MEA, added: “Expanding our lab capabilities allows us to better support customers with formulations, pioneering ingredients via our extensive lateral value chain and additional services.”
