WPC to serve as launch pad for new fragrance materials

BASF will launch a number of new aroma chemicals at the international World Perfumery Congress (WPC) in Cannes, France, which runs from 1-4 June.

Pyranol is a new addition to the company’s citral value chain and is said to deliver a mild, harmonious floralcy resembling muguet (lily of the valley). Used extensively in modern fine perfumery for its quality, stability and high cis isomer content, pyranol improves the basic accord of perfume ingredients and harmonises them to give a rounded finish. Another addition to the BASF citral value chain is a prenyl acetate, which provides fruity, fresh nuances.

BASF is also replacing its Lysmeral with Lysmeral Extra which is recommended for laundry and fabric care compositions.
